A first of it's kind mobile mini-band major online mini-band competition was held in the United Sates, attracting 21 separate bands from across country in an event sponsored by the Wake and District pipe band. Champions were crowned from a variety of organizations with no overall champion of champion. This was a non-sanctioned contest, free of charge and open to any band in the States.
"We were so excited to be putting the uniform on again, it’s been a long 9 months without playing," said Don Shannon of the North Texas Caledonian Pipe Band. "Thanks again for putting this on, we all needed it."
The contest was adjudicated by the gents from PLAY FOR SHEETS - which included Blair Brown, Cameron Drummond, Steven McWhirter and Glenn Brown. Each judged assessed prerecorded video performances from piping and drumming perspectives. "All the guys are pretty surprised at the decent standard," said Cameron Drummond.
This event was the only of it's kind for bands in the United States during a shuttered band season, providing bands a reason to come together and perform, "It was good to have something to work towards," said Tracy Wilson of the Knoxville Pipe Band. Knoxville went on to be crowned champions for their Grade 4 Medley submission,
Champions were announced during a live-stream conducted on social media, with results read by the legend, Mr. Rab Lennox of The Big Rab Show.
