Massive congratulations to everyone representing the band with a successful day at the Virginia Highland Games! From an organizational perspective, I couldn’t be more proud of how everyone pulled together. Thank you all for doing your part to make this day run smoothly.
A huge thank you to Paul and Fisher for their outstanding musical leadership on the field; your guidance set the foundation for our success.
Special thanks to Andrew Wilkinson and Joe Harwell for getting the trailer and equipment on-site and setting up with the help of Katie Hope and others in the morning. Your efforts ensured we were ready to go from the start.
To everyone who made it up to the site and was ready to tune at 10:30, thank you for your dedication. A massive shoutout to Adrian Melvin and Andrew Kosydar for setting the tone—quite literally—with the midsection drums and pipes. Your focus and fervor helped us stay on track throughout the day.
Thank you to Dan for capturing the memories with your photography skills, ensuring we have plenty to look back on.
None of this is easy—driving eight hours round trip, being away from our families on a holiday weekend, sweating our butts off in 16-ounce wool kilts, and having to put up with one another through the good times and the bad. But we did it, and we did it together. Thank you for looking out for one another.
Congratulations to Bridget for two second-place finishes in piping today, and to Katie for a second-place finish in Piobaireachd! Well done!
A special thank you to Orin for marching us off the field carrying the trophy. It was a big day of firsts for this young man, and I’m looking forward to having him in the circle with us in some manner this time next year.
We’ve got one more contest left in Scotland County. Let’s stay band ready and focus on fixing the things we need to from Virginia. Celebrate the victory. Be happy. I know I am.
