Change in Musical Leadership

As we look to the future and continue to refocus for the 2025 season and beyond, the Wake and District Pipe Band is thrilled to announce an important shift within our musical leadership. Jacob Egen, a long-time and devoted member of our band, is stepping into the role of Drum Sergeant, leading our percussion program alongside Pipe Major Adrian Melvin who is leading the overall band program.

Jacob’s journey with Wake and District began when he was just nine years old. Over the past 16 years, he has grown in every dimension—personally, professionally, and musically. He has progressed through Grades 5, 4, and 3, proving himself as a skilled musician and a true pillar within our band family. Always willing to step up and support our mission, Jacob embodies our commitment to serving and honoring those who sacrifice on behalf of others. His dedication to Wake and District has been unwavering, and we are excited to see his leadership unfold in this new capacity.

Jacob will be succeeding Patrick O’Leary, a seasoned member who has been instrumental in guiding our drum corps. Together with former Pipe Major Joe Brady, Patrick helped the band make great strides, building the foundation on which we now stand. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Patrick and Joe for their invaluable contributions and the legacy they have created within our ranks. Their leadership has set the course for what comes next.

As Jacob steps into his new role, he will work closely with Neil Seivwright, the lead tip for our Grade 3 band alongside G3 Pipe Major Ken McKeveny. Neil will be an invaluable instructor for the percussion section across our program, which spans Grade 4, Grade 3, and our non-competing members. This collaboration between Jacob and Neil brings a fresh approach to our percussion program and strengthens our focus on cohesion, skill development, and musical excellence.

With Adrian Melvin’s expertise as Pipe Major and Jacob’s steadfast commitment as Drum Sergeant, we are moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. Together, they will lead us into a new chapter, ensuring that we continue to evolve musically and uphold the mission that defines us.

We invite all members, supporters, and friends of Wake and District to join us in celebrating this transition and in welcoming Jacob to his new leadership role. The future is bright for Wake and District, and we are excited to share this journey with each of you.
