Drum Major Skip Kirkwood put his mace down and picked up his pipes on Tuesday, January 16, 2008 to honor our fallen. He played at the Bryan Lee Funeral Home on Wake Forest Road for Wake Med Police Senior Emergency Telecommunicator Mike Bazemore who passed away after 28 years of service. Mike always wanted to be a police officer but was unable to due to a physical handicap – and was an excellent, dedicated police telecommunicator for 28 years.
A note from Chief Lisa Pryse – Wake Med Police Department:
I wanted to take a moment to thank you for taking the time to provide the beautiful music at “Mike” Bazemore’s services today. Your group and the service you provide is a wonderful asset to the Public Safety Community. There is no instrument more powerful than the bagpipes at a public safety memorial service. Mike would have been proud of the send-off!
