kenOur mantra for the 2013 competition season came from Walt Whitman’s Song of the Open Road; a call to arms, an exhortation to those who are strong enough to join us on the road. For Walt Whitman the journey was the source of poetry, we see it as something larger, as a way of life.  “We convince by our presence.” The road is a symbol of our mission and resolve which just happens to make for good poetry.  We stepped onto the field together in April at the Loch Norman Games winning 1st place in G4 and 3rd place in G5 band competition.  We ended the season together on the field of the Scotland County Games winning 1st place in G4 and 3rd place in G5 band competition.  All along the road we faced challenges and through determination we walk away pleased and proud.

Thank you to all of our band members for their hard work and determination — and to our family members and friends for their patience and support along the road where re-connected with so many old friends and made so many new ones.

New music is being distributed for the 2014 competition season and we start rehearsing tomorrow…ever upward.
