On Saturday, 15 October 2011 band members traveled to Stone Mountain Georgia to participate in their 39th Annual Highland Games. This was also the closing competition for what has been a challenging inaugural Grade 4 season for our members. The last three competitions we deported with the minimum number of pipers – but we stayed focused and played pointedly. This is a hobby, but it’s a very serious hobby where we all dedicate a lot of time and money. This is supposed to be fun, isn’t it? Sure, it’s a lot of work however things came together this season and we should celebrate our success and look forward to the dawning of a new day. This is hard work and as the Grade 4 group’s leadership moves to the hands of Pipe Major Seamus Russell – we look forward to the best of times.
Congratulations to our solo competitors at Stone Mountain: Melissa Fox-Jones for a 3rd place medal in tenor drumming, Jacob Egen for a 3rd place finish in snare drumming and Josh Hinson for 4th in Grade 2 Piob.
That’s a wrap for the 2011 band competitions. 2012 will feature a new Grade 4 Pipe Major and a Grade 5 group as well…see you at the line.
