Home / Band News / Saying Goodbye to Angus

On 23 February 2012 the Durham Highway Fire Department laid to rest one of their own; Angus Highway.  Angus will always be a part of the Durham Highway Fire Department and the community they serve. He was an invaluable symbol for Durham Highway and the best fire house dalmatian anyone could ask for.

On behalf of the members of Wake & District, we extend our condolences to the 16 House – who will never be the same without Angus; he will be forever missed and remembered.

A note of thanks to band member Michael Bishop for providing bagpipes at the last call for Angus.

  • “Angus’ Last Call: Raleigh Central all units & all stations, stand by for an administrative announcement.
  • Raleigh Central all units & all stations, it is with deep sense of saddness that the members of the Durham Highway FD annouce the passing of long time member Angus.
  • … Angus was a 14 1/2 year veteran of the fire department where he served as a proud member with great distinction in the public safety education program responsible for educating thousands.

  • Angus executed his duties with distinction and will be greatly missed by the fire department, the community which he served, and the entire fire service brotherhood.
