On behalf of the members of the Wake & District Pipe Band – we would like to extend our congratulations to the Raleigh Fire-Fighters who were promoted on Thursday, 21 June 2012. Chief McGrath and the members of the Raleigh Fire Department have been gracious to the band in so many ways over years – and we are always honored to participate at promotional ceremonies which culminate in what is now a tradition…marching from Raleigh City Hall to RFD Station 1 for a reception. Congratulations to those promoted!
From Legeros.com >> the Raleigh Fire Department recognized the achievements of individuals who obtained appointment or promotion through a competitive process over the last six months. The ceremony opened with a presentation of colors by the Raleigh Fire Department Honor Guard (and a Wake & District bagpiper) and remarks by Fire Chief John McGrath.
Recognized were Asst. Chief Bradley R. Harvey; Division Chief Kendall T. Hocutt; Safety Officer/Battalion Chief A.C. Rich Jr.; Battalion Chiefs John P. Fanning, and Franklin C. Hobson; Captains Lee C. Allred, Brandon K. Hopkins, Richard L. Ketchie, Roy T. McGee, and Dominic O. Orlando; Lieutenants Kent A. Davis, Michael R. Gerke, Grant R. Hall, Robert J. Harper, C. Tim Houston, C. Bryan Kirk, and Jeffrey M. Silver. (A couple others were unable to attend and will be recognized at the next ceremony.)
Also, recently retired members were recognized for their service, including Battalion Chief L. Alan Walters and Safety Officer/Captain Sammy G. McIntyre. A reception was held at Fire Station 1 afterward. A procession from City Hall to Station 1 was a Wake & District Public Safety Pipes and Drums piper. See more photos from the event from Lee Wilson.
