Everyone who has ever worn the badge, or had a family member who wears one, knows the ultimate sacrifice might be asked of them. We know in an instant, any assignment can turn into danger, then death, then unending sorrow. When a police officer dies in the line of duty it is a tragedy for the entire community, but it is forever a memory of fellow police officers and their families. On behalf of the members of the Wake & District Public Safety Pipes and Drums – we would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Bladen County Deputy Dwayne Charles Hester who died in the line of duty on Friday, 08 June 2012.
Deputy Hester was involved in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a call for help involving an assault with a deadly weapon.
