Home / Band News / marching in honor of valor, courge and sacrifice…

On Saturday, 09 November 2013 members of Wake & District had the privilege to march behind the Raleigh Police Department Honor Guard – leading the 2013 North Carolina Veterans Day Parade.  Thank you to Mr. Terry F. Chatfield, Vice President, Wake County Council of Veterans Organizations, Inc and Mr. Scott Kennedy of the North Carolina Society, Sons of the American Revolution for inviting the band to perform in the parade and giving us the honor to be up front helping lead the way.  Thank you to Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane and the members of the Raleigh City Council who were there with her on the reviewing stand on a crisp fall morning in the City of Oaks.

Honestly…we hate everything about parades: the staging, the weather, the parking, the horse poop – you name it.  While all parades hold special meaning to people, this parade was different for us.  For the first time we were invited to participate, play and march in honor of the valor, courage and sacrifice of the brave men and women of our Nation’s military (including several band members) who call North Carolina home.  Thanks for letting us be there and sharing our music.
