It was most certainly a weekend full of music and merriment in Raleigh. We started the weekend on Friday opening the Raleigh Fire Department recruit graduation. Following the graduation a few of our members attended the NC FOOLS Brotherhood Bash with a massed bands of pipers and drummers from across the old North State. Saturday rolled in and our G4 members geared up for a practice in the park at Moore Square. The heat was oppresive and the deluge of rain didn’t help, but we had some great runs through our Medley and MMSR as we ramp up to the back half of our competition season. We ended the night sharing the stage at Tir Na Nog with our friends from the Inis Cairde School of Irish Dance, Gerry McCrudden and James Olin Oden. In addition to the usual skirl of pipes and drum from Wake & District — we were banded together for a rendition of THE AULD TRIANGLE — belted out by our own Séamus Russell. The evening of music and merriment was in honor of our friend Annie Nice. Without Annie and the fire she has to rally the Irish and Celtic communities we would not be the band we are today and the City of Raleigh, Tir Na Nog and everyone who loves all things Irish would be amiss; we love you Annie!
