Home / Band News / Mr. Higgins – at rest

On behalf of the members of the Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums – we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and band-mates of retired Chicago Police Detective and founding member of the Bagpipes and Drums of the Emerald Society, Chicago Police Department – on the loss of Mr. Eddie Higgins.

Mr. Higgins was truly one of the great ones.  He never had a bad thing to say about anyone and always had a smile on his face (and a pint in his hand).  As bass drummer for the Cops In Kilts, Mr. Higgins was the heartbeat of the band.  We were fortunate to have Mr. Higgins with us on two occasions here in North Carolina – in 2008 for our third annual Tartan Ball and in 2011 for our 5 year anniversary concert.  The echoes of him beating on the bass drum will resound forever in our hearts and souls.  Thank you Mr. Higgins.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord — let perpetual light shine upon him.  May he rest in peace.  Amen.
