Indianapolis is mourning the loss of EMT Timothy McCormick and paramedic Codey Medley after they were killed when their ambulance was hit by a car downtown early Saturday morning.  On behalf of the members of the Wake & District Pipe Band we extend our condolences to the families, friends and co-workers of these young medics.

EMS-line-of-dutyMcCormick, 24, joined the IEMS team in 2010. He was originally from New York state and trained as an EMT in New York. He was an Eagle Scout and recently attended IUPUI. “The entire Indianapolis EMS family is deeply saddened by the news of our fallen brother. Tim was a heroic provider, but he was also a wonderful colleague and friend to us all,” said Dr. Charles Miramonti, chief of Indianapolis EMS. “While I am overcome with grief, I am equally overwhelmed by my pride in the actions of our crews on the scene and the tremendous outpouring of support from our Department of Public Safety family, our Health and Hospital Corporation and Wishard family, and the entire community for our fallen colleague.”

Medley, 22, became a member of IEMS in 2010. He attended high school in Scranton , PA and was a member of the Sunman Fire Department before joining IEMS. “It is with a heavy heart I announce that another of our IEMS brothers has passed. Cody was a skilled paramedic, a loyal colleague and a wonderful friend,” said Dr. Charles Miramonti, chief of Indianapolis EMS. “While the past 28 hours have been filled with extraordinary grief, loss and sadness, we’ve come together to remember two extraordinary young men. I also once again want to recognize the tremendous outpouring of support from our Department of Public Safety family, our Health and Hospital Corporation and Wishard family, and the entire community for our fallen colleague.”
