Good times this weekend in Scotland County. Congratulations to piper Chris Mogensen for a 2nd place finish in his first Grade 4 solo piping competition. A “job well done” is also extended to Jake Egen for his 2nd place finish in Grade 4 solo drumming << we are so very proud of your individual efforts in representing Wake & District. Thank you to all the family members, friends and fellow band members for coming out to support our competing members and to our fellow competitors for a wonderful day of competition filled with camaraderie. It’s been a challenging inaugural Grade 4 season for Wake & District, but for the first time this season we PLACED in the prize money- taking home a 3rd place finish (3,4,3,3) in a field of six. Going up against the established programs of the Grandfather Mountain Highlanders and the Jamestown Pipe Band have proven to be an uphill battle (going against such reputable programs amid the loss of pipers/drummers to our circle). We are on the edge of some great things and are looking forward to closing the season out in Stone Mountain on 15 October, 2011. THANK YOU to all those competing members for their hard work – let’s close out strong.

Photos from the games by our official band photographer – Véronique McMillan – can be seen here.
