On Saturday, 14 May 2011 members of the band traveled to Washington, DC to participated in the National Law Enforcement Memorial March and Memorial Service. While this was the 17th Annual NCLEES memorial and the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 – this marked the band’s first trip to honor the more than 19,000 names on the wall at the memorial.
From the bottom of my heart – I am thankful to the band members for spending your time to journey to Washington, DC to represent the band and the great state of North Carolina at the police memorial march and service. It was a tremendously long day for all of us – especially our drivers Lesa and Jason 0 along with all those who helped along the way (including our credentialed band photographer).
We did our part and while names will continue to be added to memorials is North Carolina, DC, Emmetsburg and across this country, and I am assured we will continue to do everything good and noble to honor them.
To the family and friends who joined the band on this particular journey – we’re grateful for standing by us. To our brothers and sisters we shared the moment with (especially the members of the Pipes & Drums of the Chicago Police Department) we are honored to walk this road together.
Thank you again,
– Joe Brady
