Thursday, January 24th was a busy day for the members of the Wake & District Pipe Band. The day started with Skip, Tony and Joe receiving a donation from the Troopers Association of the North Carolina Highway Patrol << thank you troopers!!! Later that afternoon they were joined by Doc (in his Raleigh Police uniform) Frank "Buddy" Barber, Joe Harwell and Mike Bishop to play for the Raleigh Area Public Safety (RAPS) race. This is event is coordinated by our own Jeff Hammerstein to bring public safety officers from the triangle together for a little competition among comrades. Photos from the event by Mike Legeros can be seen here.
The day didn’t end there…the night concluded with the band performing at a pre Robert Burns celebration at Tir Na nOg. Our thanks to TNN General Manager Annie Nice for coordinating a wonderful evening for band members, our family and friends. The night featured the skirl of the pipes, deep fried Haggis and some solo piping by our haggis piper – John Schodtler.
Thank you to everyone who came out – and sorry for playing so fast. Good night and have a pleasent tomorrow.
