We are about to begin a New Year, so as we do I suggest we take this opportunity to let the past go! Let old hurts go, let past grudges go, let past failures go, let past disappointments go…LET IT GO! If we want our New Year to be amazing and incredible, which I would hope we all want, then the only way to make that happen is to let the past go and look forward to the future with faith, anticipation, and excitement!
One of my favorite poems is the poem that reminds us to quit looking back and stay focused on our future:
As you travel through life there are always those timesWhen decisions just have to be made,When the choices are hard, and solutions seem scarce,And the rain seems to soak your parade. There are some situations where all you can doIs simply let go and move on,Gather your courage and choose a directionThat carries you toward a new dawn.So pack up your troubles and take a step forward –The process of change can be tough,But think about all the excitement aheadThere might be adventures you never imaginedJust waiting around the next bend,And wishes and dreams just about to come trueIn ways you can’t yet comprehend!Perhaps you’ll find friendshipsThat spring from new thingsAs you challenge your status quo,And learn there are so many options in life.Perhaps you’ll go places you never expectedAnd see things that you’ve never seen,Or travel to fabulous, faraway worldsAnd wonderful spots in between!Perhaps you’ll find warmth and affection and caringAnd somebody special who’s thereTo help you stay cantered and listen with interestTo stories and feelings you share.Perhaps you’ll find comfort in knowing your friendsAre supportive of all that you do,And believe that whatever decisions you make,They’ll be the right choices for you.So keep putting one foot in front of the other,And taking your life day by day…There’s a brighter tomorrow that’s just down the road –Don’t look back! You’re not going that way!– Unknown
Let the past go. Look forward to the amazing future you have lying ahead. Focus on your goals and get to work on accomplishing them. WE’VE GOT THIS!
