Another competition season comes to a close. We look back and proudly say it was a solid season for the band.
We expanded our program in 2012, taking the field with both Grade 4 & Grade 5 bands. Under the leadership of Sean O’Neil and Patrick O’Leary our Grade 5 band had a strong run at each contest finishing the season at Stone Mountain with a 3rd place finish in a field of 11 – (FIRST in ensemble). The season closed out for the Grade 4 band under the leadership of Ken McKeveny and Jacob Egen placing 6th (4,4,5,9) in the medley in a field of 12 at Stone Mountain. Congrats to Jean Russell for yet another 1st place (AGL) in solo tenor drumming, Garrett Justice placing 6th out of 16 in solo march – & to Jacob Egen for a 2nd place in solo snare drumming!
Overall for the season our Grade 5 band placed 8th out of 103 bands and our Grade 4 finished 16 out of 61 bands. Our soloists ranked well as well; Jean Russell placing 2nd in Tenor Amateur II, Jacob Egen placing 9th in Snare G4. Kudos to Garrett Justice for hitting the boards for the first time this season as well!
Thank you to all the pipers and drummers for your hard work throughout the season – and thank you to all our families and friends for supporting us along way.
We are looking forward resetting some tunes and transcending into 2013 with a strong focus on discipline, technique, and continually striving to produce a quality pipe sound – and above all, quality music.
