Fire Fighter George Crocker at rest

Pine Level Fire Chief George Crocker died Sunday at his home. The 32 year-old firefighter was the volunteer chief at the Pine Level Fire Department and also a senior fireman with the Raleigh Fire Department. An autopsy has been performed to determine how the young firefighter died. Crocker had responded to a fire call Saturday afternoon but officials don’t know if that contributed in anyway to his death. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2pm in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium on the campus of Johnston Community College in Smithfield. Visitation will take place at the Auditorium from 6-9pm on Tuesday. Memorial contributions can be made to the NC Fallen Firefighters Foundation, 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 150, Raleigh, NC 27607.
